Designer Spotlight: DIANE von FURSTENBERG

There are few designers as timeless as Diane von Furstenberg.  Her clothing makes you feel like a woman, and can be worn for years and years.  She did say herself that she designs for the woman who loves being a woman.  How can you not love that?  Obviously, she is famous for her eponymous wrap dress, but I think that she has so many designs that are even better!  What I really love about DVF is that she is able to vascillate between slightly bohemian looks, as well as highly structured and polished pieces.  It is very rare that a designer can do both, and do them both well.

I love this “Bateau” dress. I could wear this to work or out on the town!  As polished as it is, it also appears to be very comfortable.

This “Della” dress is stunning and functional.  The boatneck is universally flattering and the side tie and ruching do lots of favors.

DVF does maxi dresses very well.  This is where you will see some bohemian influence balanced with striking femininity.  The Samson maxi dress is one of the prettiest I have ever seen.

All of these items can be purchased at Bloomingdale’s.  This line can be pricey; however I have found a lot of wonderful DVF pieces deeply discounted at Neiman Marcus Last Call.

Another reason why I love this line is because of Diane herself.  She loves life and she is very wise.  My favorite quote of hers is when she told Whitney Port on The City that “The most important relationship you have in your life is the relationship you have with yourself.”  Words (and clothes) to live by!
